BAXTER -- Betty Lou Grant, age 72, of Baxter, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village where she had lived since June 1997. She was born in Brainerd Dec. 11, 1930, to Adeline Smoldt. She married Robert Grant on Sept. 17, 1949, at her mother's home in Brainerd. She worked as a clerk for the Crow Wing County Assessor's Office from 1970 until her retirement in 1985. She had previously worked at grocery stores as a meat wrapper and also at St. Joseph's Medical Center as an aide.
Survivors include Bob, her devoted husband of 54 years; two sisters, Edna Stuber of Henderson, Minn., and Gladys Berg of LaCrosse, Wis.; a brother, Ronnie Smoldt of Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and sister Viola Jackson of Lake Lillian, Minn.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Andy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
