Silas was a Preacher in the Leatherwood Baptist Church which followed the "primitive" approach. He was known to be strong on doctrine.
Silas and Nancy had 11 children. 3 of them went on to marry into the Ziglar family;

A descendent of Silas Sr.describes the cemetery, when she visited with her father, as located on a hill off what is now Ravenscroft Rd. It had 4 cedar trees, one on each corner, with approx. 17 graves with unidentified stone markers. It was her understanding that Silas Sr.,his 1st wife Nancy and 2 young daughters were among the ones buried there. Its rumored that his favorite horse is also buried there?? The cemetery in later yrs. was partially destroyed.
