Emma Bruckert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Geertz was born May 19, 1869, at Rock Island, Illinois. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1883 and lived on a farm north of Bruning. She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran Church at Rock Island, Ill., and was a charter member of the First English Lutheran Church in Bruning.
She was united in marriage to Gustave G. Bruckert on June 5, 1894, at Bruning, Nebr. They moved to Nelson, Nebr., and then to Harvard, Nebr., and in 1903, they moved to Bruning and lived here until her death. Her husband preceded her in death on January 4, 1925.
Her health had been failing for the past six months and on Feb. 24, she became seriously ill and was taken to the Geneva hospital. She departed this life April 1, 1947, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 12 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, four children; Mera Reichert, Earl G. and Lavada of Bruning and Cozie of Oklahoma City, Okla; one grandchild, Eileen Ough of Bruning; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mathilda Geertz and Mrs. Frank Bowman of Bruning and Alvina Shane of Star, Idaho and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Bruning with burial in Bruning Public Cemetery.
