Services held Wednesday morning for John M. Kelly of Prentiss

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from Saulters Funeral Home Chapel for John M. Kelly, 84, who died Monday afternoon at the Jefferson Davis County Hospital. Rev. Bob Sheffield officiated and was assisted by Rev. Marcus Alexander and Rev. Billy Greene. Interment followed in the Prentiss Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge. Nephews served as active pallbearers. Members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Prentiss Baptist Church were Honorary Pallbearers.

Mr. Kelly was a native of Covington County. For a number of years he was employed as a bookkeeper in the lumber industry. Later he lived in Mobile, Alabama for approximately 35 years where he was employed at the Bankhead Tunnell in Mobile. For approximately two years he had resided in Prentiss where he was a member of the Prentiss Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maybelle Napier Kelly of Prentiss; two sons, Herbert Kelly and John Kelly, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Reese Polk of Prentiss, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. George Leggett of Hattiesburg; Mrs. Will Davidge of Jackson, Mrs. J. R. Jamison of Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. May Miller of Virginia Beach, Va.; Mrs. Owen Parker of Birmingham, Alabama and a large number of nieces and nephews.
