On Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, he departed to claim his Eternal Reward. Never one to run from a challenge, he faced this final transit with resolve and dignity and slipped from this life surrounded by his loved ones and close friends.
He was born on June 15, 1921, in Belle, Mo.
He is survived by three sons, Bobby Ridenhour and wife Sharron of Tahlequah, Harold Kenneth Ridenhour of Grand Island, Neb., and Dennis Ridenhour and wife Evelyn, of Tahlequah; one sister, Doris Austin and husband Willis of Collinsville, Okla.; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Some knew him as Harold, the owner operator for Tahlequah Generator for almost 30 years. Some knew him as Pastor Ridenhour, who began preaching in 1953 with his first work being on an Indian Reservation in Kenwood, Okla.; then Rocky Ford, Okla.; then Tahlequah, Okla.; and then is final work at the New Life Pentecostal Church in Welling, Okla.
His life was dedicated first to God and then to caring for his family. He wore the badge of "Pastor," "Dad" and "Papa" with honor and went above and beyond his call of duty.
The family would like to say thank you to Carter Hospice, Amedisys, Angie Whitmore and a special thank you to Tesa for all their love, support and encouragement in this time of great loss.
Thank you, Pastor, for all the messages, thank you friend for all the memories. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you and whose lives you touched and changed. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.Green Country Funeral Home, 203 S. Commercial, 458-5055.
