Funeral services for Richard Shaw Millikin, 80, prominent resident of Oak Grove and a long-time parish resident, were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Kidder-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Schwendimann and the Rev. Ruel Allen, Methodist pastor from Oak Ridge officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove cemetery with Masonic rites.
Millikin died at West Carroll Hospital Thursday evening of last week as the result of injuries incurred in a mishap near Oak Ridge when he slipped and fell off a bulldozer on which he was helping a friend work and hit the blade. They were putting belts on the machine at the time of the accident.
He was brought by his friend to West Carroll Hospital where he died approximately one hour after the accident. Hospital authorities attributed death to internal injuries.
Millikin, a long-time West Carroll resident, was a Shriner, a member of Masonic Lodge #284 and a veteran of WWI.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Zelma Pipes Millikin, of Oak Grove, a son, Richard Millikin of Oak Grove, a daughter, Mrs. Rachel Leachman of Houston, Texas, a nephew, Jack Millikin of Tallulah and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John White, Harvey Richey, Howard Brown, B. F. Barron, Marvin Lipp and Kendall Hurley.
