Robert Chandles Millikin, age 74, passed away peacefully September 3, 2004 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah with several of his loved ones present. He was born October 28, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to James Moton and Helen Johnson Millikin. He married Beverly Jean Crother on July 30, 1950 in Quartzsite, Arizona. They later divorced. He then married Vivian Jane Angelos Peterson on May 15, 1974 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They enjoyed the last 30 wonderful years together.
Bob served for four years in the United States Navy. After returning home, he worked at several occupations, including singing professionally with a Big Band group in Hollywood, driving interstate truck for Consolidated Freightways for many years, being a former member of the Santa Barbara California Fire Department, volunteer fire chief in Redding, California and manager for the Masonic Park in Granite Falls, Washington for 14 years. After moving to Kanab, he volunteered in several programs in Kanab and Fredonia until the time of his death.
Bob was very active in the Masons, being a life member and past Master of the Damascus Lodge of Granite Falls, Washington. He was also a life member of the Washington York Rite, the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, the Council of Cryptic Masons, and the Commandry of the Knights Templar, holding the rank of Knight of the Cross of Honor, and had been a past Shriner. He was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Granite Falls, Washington.
Bob had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed teasing everyone in good fun. He had a great love and special talent for music and poetry. He was always ready with a good story. His family will remember him as a loving and caring husband and father who enjoyed the time he spent with them.
Survivors include wife Vivian Millikin of Fredonia, Arizona; children Terry (Jim) Jenson of Delta, Utah, Kathy Hawkes of Hurricane, Utah, Debby (Kevin) Lowham of Kemmerer, Wyoming, Lindy Millikin of St. George, Utah, Larry (Orlinda) Peterson of Hurricane, Utah and Mike (Charlene) Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab, Utah.
