Clinton Page Conkey

The many Canton friends of Clinton P. Conkey will learn with regret of his death at St. Thomas Hospital, San Francisco, Cal., Tuesday , February 19th, after a very painful illness. For a number of years after leaving Canton he was located in Oregon where his brother Charles H. has been successfully engaged in business. Some four or five years ago close attention to business and long hours at the desk severely taxed his strength and his rugged constitution was undermined but during the past two or three years he has been well. About a year ago he was transferred by his company, the International Harvester Co., from Spokane, Wash., to San Francisco, and here he had the best of health until the earthquake shock April last, which seems to have affected his health. Laterly he had intended to go to his brother's home, LaGrande, Orgeon, but was taken very ill and went to St. Thomas Hospital where death followed. His brother was with him at the last hours.

He was a young man of sterling qualities who had a bright and promising future. He was born on the old homestead about two and one-half miles west of this village thirty-four years ago and was educated in Canton High School. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Charles H. of Oregon and Harry M., Corris S., and Mary V. of New York.
