Mrs. J. W. Reedy Sr. Called By Death

The death angel has again visited our city and taken one of our most respected citizens, Mrs. Sarah Reedy, widow of the late J. W. Reedy Sr., who preceded her to her grave about 15 months.

Mrs. Reedy's health had been failing the past four or five years. About 10 days ago she became critically ill, and continued to grow worse until the end came on Wednesday, Aug. 4th, 1926, at 12:50 p.m. Her ailment was stated to be shadow paralysis.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. E. Clifton. Services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Hendrey, pastor of Methodist church, and Rev. T. H. Carden, pastor of Baptist church. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery. Great banks of flowers were contributed by friends.

Mrs. Sarah Langhorne Reedy was born at Henderson, Texas, Aug. 7, 1852, and lacked only three days of being 74 years old at the time of her death. On Nov. 18, 1874, she married Jas. W. Reedy, and to them were born seven children, of which four survive, namely: Mrs. C. V. Holt of Fort Worth, Jas. W. Reedy, Mrs. A. E. Clifton and Henry L. Reedy of Davis, all of whom were with her during her last illness and at her death. She also leaves seven grandchildren. She was converted and joined the Methodist church at 15 years of age and thereafter remained a loyal, true Christian. After living in Tarrant county several years she moved to Indian Territory and settled south of Davis in 1899, moving into our city in 1905, and spent the remainder of her life here.

Mrs. Reedy was one of our best citizens, and was beloved for her beautiful life, kind heart and gentle manners. Her life was an inspiration and benediction to others, and she was beloved for her many noble virtues.

In her death Davis has lost one of its noblest and best mothers.
