He was born November 25, 1896 at Ayers, Tenn. in Dyer County.
Mr. Sample moved to Pemiscot County, Mo. when he was a small child and attended Catholic Elmentary School in Caruthersville, Mo. and Western Military Academy in Alton, Ill.
He was united in marriage with Katherine Rosemond Hancock in Pemiscot County. Four children were born to this union. Mrs. Sample preceded him in death May 19, 1981. Two sons also preceded him in death: Thomas on May 4, 1985 and Sharon on June 14, 1976.
Mr. Sample leaves one son, George Irvin Sample Jr., of Kennett, Mo.; One daughter, Jane Suddarth, of Phoenix; Ten grandchildren; and Sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Sample were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 1994, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel at Hayti, with Rev. Ramel G. Grey officiating.
Burial was at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti in charge.
