H.A. LONG DIES AT 78

Howard Allen Long, 78, a retired Idaho Falls carpenter who resided at 363 8th St., died Wednesday at a local hospital after a lingering illness.
He was born in Adams, Neb., Dec. 11, 1895, the son of John and Ellen Lulah Haire Long. Mr. Long moved to Idaho Falls with his parents in 1901. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I. Mr. Long was married to Erna Drewes in 1923. He farmed in Riverdale area until 1940, when the family moved to Idaho Falls. Mr. Long was a carpenter and worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1959. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his widow of Idaho Falls; four daughters Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) James of Twin Falls, Mrs. Edwin (Marjorie) Poulter of Menan, Mrs. Bob (Norma) Davis of Pocatello and Mrs. Paul (Karen) Davis of Boise; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters; Mrs. Mabel Heyner and Shirley Wengert, both of Idaho Falls, and Mrs. Edna Spencer of Orland, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church at Idaho Falls with Pastor Andrew Loesel officiating.
Internment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Buck-Sullivan Funeral Home.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the memorial fund of St. Johns's Lutheran Church.
