OBITUARY OF MRS.W.S.Gove ALEXANDRIA ARGUS NOV 16, 1905
Diantha Dorcas Bailey was born in Rochester Vt. Sept 8, 1830 and died at her home 7 1/2 miles north west of Alexandria November 13, 1905 at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 5 days.
She was the last of a family of eight born to her father and mother, her brother Rev. Geo. I. Bailey having died within the year.
She came to Tazewell county, Illinois, in the spring of 1857 and engaged in teaching, and on Sept. 7, 1858 was married to Mr. W.S. Gove to whom were born four sons and one daughter of whom two sons died in infancy.
She with her family moved to Thayer county, Nebr., in 1885 and bought the farm where she died.
She was granted a remarkably clear conversion in her young womanhood and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been a useful member for over fifty years. She was one of the original members of the Antioch M.E. church and until ill health kept her away she was a regular attendant and as a teacher in the Sunday school left her imprint on the religious life of the community.
Last January she suffered a fall resulting in fracture of the head of the femur since when she has been confined to her home but was able to be up until about a week before her death, when she was afflicted with a severe cold on her lungs from which she did not have strenght to recover.
The funeral was held on Wednesday from the Antioch church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. O. T. Moore of Ohiowa and her remains left to rest in the cemetary near the church.
She leaves a large circle of friends who mourn her loss, and extend their sympathy to the bereaved husband and children.
