Wanda Bethel, a resident of Barstow, California for more than 50 years, died on September 14, 2009, in Irvine, California. She was born May 17, 1926, in Ridgway, Colorado, to parents Jesse Daniel Ellis (1900-1966) and Anna Mae Thomas (1909-2001).
Wanda worked for years at the Barstow Senior Center and as an employee for the County of San Bernardino as the Senior Information Liaison. Mrs. Bethel was instrumental in the establishment of many of the Senior Citizen facilities in the High Desert.
Wanda is survived by her son, Frank Conner, stepsons, Kenneth Bethel Jr. and Melvin Bethel; sister, Nadine Eubanks; and grandchildren, David Conner, Andrew Conner, Crystal Bethel Isho, and Forrest Bethel. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Duke Bethel Sr. and son Kenneth John Conner Jr.
Services for Wanda will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Barstow, California, on September 18, 2009. Viewing at 10 a.m., services, 11 a.m. and
burial will follow immediately at Mountain View Memorial Park, Barstow, California.
