Martha Geneva Park Farmer, 76, lifetime Checotah resident, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Checotah, Ok. Geneva was born on Wednesday, June 28, 1933 in Checotah to George B. and Margie Nellie Kindred Park. She grew up in Checotah and attended Checotah High School. Geneva met, fell in love and married Jerry Bankston Farmer on Thursday, August 24, 1950 in Checotah. Geneva worked at the family grocery store in Checotah before moving to Porum, where the family owned and operated "Jerry's Malt Shop". After moving back to Checotah, Geneva worked as a seamstress at Whit Stag and also a home health provider. Later she spent time volunteering at the Methodist Mission the last several years of her life. She enjoyed going to Bingo at the Senior Citizens Center, painting, watching her grandkids play sports and spending time with Red Peterson who was a very special friend. Geneva was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Checotah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry, and her brother, Harold Park. Geneva is lovingly survived by her Children; Kittie Farmer Dishman of Broken Arrow, Jerry Farmer and wife Shelia of Muskogee, Konnie Taylor and husband Rodney of McAlester; Siblings, Bob and Pat Park of Checotah, Nina Brown of Alaska and Raymond and Ruth Park of California; Grandchildren, Scott and Kristie Carlson, Kyle and Tamara Dishman, Kindra Dishman, Trey and Misty Blunt, Jerry and Rachel Farmer, Katie Farmer, Matt and Kimberly Gillispie, Rachel Jones, brother-in-law, Dan and Joyce Farmer of Moore, OK and 9 great grandchildren and a very special friend, Charles "Red" Peterson and a host of extended family and friends. Geneva was a great Matriarch and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 36 Checotah, Ok. 74426. Geneva's family will greet friends 5-7pm Friday, September 18, 2009 at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 19, 2009 at First United Methodist Church of Checotah with Reverend Wayne Loftin and Reverend Dan Farmer, officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Jerry Dean Farmer Jr., Kyle Dishman, Scott Carlson, Trey Blunt, Matthew Gillispie, Rodney Taylor, Robert Park and George Park serving as Casket Bearers. The Methodist Mission Volunteers will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers. The family of Geneva Farmer entrusted her care and services to John and Kim Garrett of Garrett Family Funeral Home.
