Bruce Edward Yeager, 61, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Yeager was born April 21, 1948 in Stuttgart, AR. He was a graduate of Stuttgart High School Class of 1966, and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR in 1972 with a B.S. and his M.S. in 1976 where he wrote his final thesis on The Fish of Cane Creek. Mr. Yeager began his teaching career at Neelyville High School as a Science teacher in 1972 and retired in 2002. After retirement he worked for Summer's Electric. Mr. Yeager loved to travel, do woodworking, canoeing and participating in other outdoor activities. During his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis.
On March 29, 1980 he married Lisa Marie Wisdom. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Frances Hughes Yeager Byers of Poplar Bluff; daughter, Holly Yeager Lintner and her husband Jon; three grandsons: Zane Yeager Lintner, Peyton Yeager Lintner and Trey Charlie Yeager Lintner all of Jackson, MO; mother-in-law, Minnie Wisdom Muskopf and her husband Russell; brother-in-law, Steve Wisdom and his wife Sheila all of Poplar Bluff; niece, Shelli Allen and her husband Jason of Puxico; nephew, Charles Steven Wisdom II and his wife Barbara of Dexter; and maternal uncles, Ray Hughes and Glenn Hughes and his wife Sue all of Arkadelphia, AR.
Mr. Yeager was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Jesse Yeager.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. John Gilbert and the Rev. Bruce Pittman officiating. Mr. Yeager will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
The family request memorial be made to the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center in Jonesboro, AR, c/o Cotrell Funeral Service, P.O. Box 548, Poplar Bluff, MO 63902 or to a charity of one's choice.
