Allan Linwood Brown Jr., 91, of Richmond, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Edna Holmes Brown; sister, Dorothy White; and his four sons, Allan Linwood Brown III (Mercy) of Wilmington, N.C., David Holmes Brown (Merlyn) of Seabrook, Texas, Steven Earl Brown (Paula) of Mechanicsville, Va., and James R. Brown (Tina) of Ashland, Va. His eight grandchildren include David Michael of North Carolina, David Wayland of Texas, Christopher Allan of Texas, Julie Merlyn of Texas, Holly Michelle of Virginia, Steven Nicholas of Virginia, Stephanie Nichole of Virginia, Brittany Marie of Virginia; and one great-grandchild, Adellyn of Texas. Mr. Brown was a veteran of WWII with decorations and citations of four medals and three ribbons. "Brownie" retired from Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia after 40 years. He was our beloved Dad, a strong, kind, and proud man, who showed us how to be faithful to God and family to the end. Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 8, at New Bethesda Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va. "For I am in a straight betwixt two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ; which is far better." Phil. 1:23.
