Recruit Otha D. Bumgarner of Camp Chaffee, Ark., was home on a 14-day furlough during the Christmas holidays, visiting his mother, Mrs. Sue Bumgarner. He took his basic training at Camp Chaffee and from there goes to Camp Leroy Johnson, New Orleans, to attend heavy artillery school. He enlisted the 20th of October.

BURIED HERE


Funeral services for Mrs. Sue Bumgarner Baker were held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the East Main street Church of Christ with burial in Green Hill cemetery. Bahner Funeral home had charge of arrangements.

Floyd Johnson officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were Harold Clary, Billy Ray Tigert, Bill Roper, Elmer Cherry, Bobby Smith, and Jimmy Oakley.

Survivors include one daughter, Miss Evelyn Bumgarner of the home; five sons, Hermit Bumgarner of Weed, Calif., Tom Bumgarner of Davis, Ralph Bumgarner of Kenniwitt, Wash., Dale Bumgarner of San Leandro, Calif., and Bob Bumgarner of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Roxi Alice Fikes of Anson, Texas, Mrs. Nellie Keele of Stockton, Calif., Mrs. Hazel Huckaby of Alton, Tex., two brothers, Bee Digby of Antlers, and Otha Digby of Salem, Ore., and 11 grandchildren. One son, Glen, preceded her in death.
