Beverly Jean Halsted, age 71, resident of Brainerd, formerly of Two Harbors, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at her home. Beverly was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ervin and Florence (Kounkel) Krause. She married Charles Halsted on June 24, 1977, in Watertown, S.D. Beverly was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She served as a nursing home volunteer in Two Harbors and helped with athletic events and concessions.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chuck" Halsted; stepfather, Knute Brumberg; daughters, Vicki (Douglas) Kruse, Julie Van Der Schaaf and Forrest Crocker; son, Joe (Marie) Van Der Schaaf; daughter, Debbie Halsted; daughter, Sandy (Bruce) McLeod; daughter, Connie (Todd) Lyscio; grandchildren, Cory and Bri Anna Kruse, Forrest and Michael Crocker, Zachary and Ryder Van Der Schaaf, Cameron and Andrea Gillingham, Tom and Michael Lyscio, Chuck (Tasha) Halsted and Roxanne (Todd) Schuety; great-grandchildren, Shania, Jackson and Pheobe.
Her father, Ervin A. Krause, and mother, Florence C. Brumberg; and two brothers, Jim Krause and Randy Krause, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Ivy Borgstrom officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and Saturday before services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
