Chrystal was the daughter of George Albert Lowery and Minnie Pearl Myers-Lowery.

She married Herbert Claude Thorndyke on Feb 7, 1921. She later married Albert McCoy on July 22, 1961.

Herbert and Chrystal had 12 children. Sons-William Albert, Walter Ray, Herbert Eugene, Elmer V, John Christian, Kenneth Paul, Richard Orville and James Edward.
