Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Slusser, well known Minden resident, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Nichol Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wilbur Swan in charge. Interment was made in the Minden Cemetery.
Helen Elizabeth, was the oldest daughter of Almon and Elizabeth Stuart and was born in Mishawanka, Indiana, on June 13, 1855. She passed away on April 3, 1943, having attained the age of 87 before the final summons was sounded.
She was joined in marriage to John L. Slusser on February 6, 1878, and for some time they resided in Wilsonville. In 1887, they moved to Colorado and it was here that Mr. Slusser passed away on March 28, 1896.
Mrs. Slusser and her three children moved to Minden shortly after the death of husband and father and she became active in church, civic and social affairs.
In 1906 when Minden Library was established she was named librarian and held this important post for twenty six years and much to the credit for the fine library which this city now enjoys is her's.
In 1932 she retired from active life and spent the remainder of her years with her children. She is survived by three children, Jesse R. Slusser of Omaha, Elwyn H. Slusser of Denver, and Mrs. Helen Morgan of Lebanon, Nebraska. There also survive eight grand children, and eight great grand-children.
