Joe L. Brumberg, 81, Brainerd, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Woodhaven Senior Community Center of Brainerd.

He was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Brainerd, to Henry and Tina (Neisheim) Brumberg. He married Helga "Babe" Krause on Oct. 3, 1943 in Iowa. He worked as a machinist in Sioux City, Iowa, for 15 years until returning to Brainerd. He worked as a union carpenter for 22 years in the Brainerd area. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Brainerd.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Brumberg, Silver Bay, and Richard Brumberg, Brainerd; a daughter, Sharon Mraz, Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Roy and Knute Brumberg, both of Brainerd; and two sisters, Katie Dewing, Alaska, and Eva Adams, Wisconsin.

His wife, a son, Ronald, and three sisters, Bertha Svendsen, Ruth Padgett and Irene DeRosier, died earlier.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church of Brainerd with Pastor Alfred Luehmann officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

Friends may call at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home of Brainerd from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and at the church an hour before services Friday.
