Robert Meroney 79, of Ligonier, died Jan. 5, 2001 at Shepherd of the Hill in Kendallville. He was a farmer and had served on the Ligonier Fire Dept. for 17 years. He was born Jan. 10, 1921 in Ligonier to Floyd and Gertrude (Rex) Meroney. On Aug. 6, 1941 he married Viva M. Huff. Surviving are his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Kathy Meroney of Ligonier; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Marsha Rhodes of Fort Wayne, Carol and Paul Kehr of Granger and Joy and Dale Friskney of Ligonier; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Max Musselman of Wawaka; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
