Leo Longenecker was the eldest son of five children, Clara, Bertha, Russell and Arthur, of George S. and Viola Longenecker. He was born near Ligonier, Indiana, on July 18, 1899. He graduated from Ligonier High School in 1918. After graduation Leo moved to Chicago, Ill , living on Colfax Ave. and took employment at Wisconsin Steel Company where he became a foreman in the blast furnace department. He latter met and married Lyndall and had 2 sons, Robert and Charles. May 2 1930 Leo died after being pinned between a railcar and a crane. Leo was buried in Oak Park Cemetery near his father George.
