The lady married her bonnie lad upon his return home from the Civil War. Our hats are off to her for raising well their eight children during this harsh time in our country's history.
My father, Howard Cress, often spoke of his great Aunt Bessie, whom he adored. Grandma "Thursy" raised very loving, hard working and admirable children.
