Opaline Hargett McKinney, 83, of Red Bay, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at ECM Hospital. She was born July 11, 1930, in Spruce Pine, Ala. and worked in clothing retail sales. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala., with Brother Roger Wood officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Site Cemetery, Red Bay, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements. Survivors are two children, Janice Kiser, Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Sammy McKinney, Red Bay, Ala.; one grandson, Jonathan Osborn, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Polly Hargett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard McKinney, her parents, James Perry Hargett and Ethel Duncan Hargett, and her brothers and sisters, Troy Hargett, Evelyn Prestridge, Herlon Reeves, and Theresa Lindley. Pallbearers will be Truman Peden, Boyd Tidwell, Gerald Collum, Gordon George, and Pete Brandon. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala.
