Ferris Spurgeon Wright born October 25, 1887 in Tabor City, Columbus County, North Carolina. His father was Lucian Wright & mother was Nellie Jenerette. Ferris married my grandmother Lutie Victoria Gore on August 18, 1915 in Pireway, North Carolina. My grandfather for as long as anyone can remember always had a store of some kind. Some records said he had a shoe store once. I don't personalty have any knowledge of this, however my aunt Lauredo said she never knew any time that he didn't have a store of some type.
Mr. Wright at the time of his death had a store in Plant City. Wright's Furniture & Hardware was at that time located at 118 S. Collins Street. The sign over the door and on the masthead of his invoices was the logo "You Can't Go Wrong At Wright's" His store displayed a sign stating "We Buy & Sell Anything From A Needle To A Battleship Except For Used Dentures & Coffins" Sometime around the late 40's or early 50's the store was moved 1 block West from 118 S. Collins St. to 119 S. Evers St. The move was necessary because the store next door, W.W. Mac's 5 & 10 cent store expanded to take over the place of Wright's location.
Ferris and Lutie had four children, all girls. The oldest was my mother Oneito Menta Wright born 6-2-1916 in Tabor City, NC.
