Marie was the daughter of Sidney Lawrence and Rose Etta Marlar McClain. Her father is buried in Memory Gardens of Baytown in Baytown, TX. She shares a stone with her husband, Lonze Lee Alford. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War. She was residing in Palestine in Anderson Co, TX at the time of her death there.She was survived two sons, David Lee Alford and Bruce Allen Alford, both of Elkhart; one sister, Betty L. Alford of Shepard; one brother, Jim McClain of Baytown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Thursday, 22 August 2002.
