Ruth Adams Draper, of Midland, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004.
She was born April 2, 1916 to George Daniel Adams and Melissa Greene Adams in Union, South Carolina. Ruth received her education in Raleigh, North Carolina and also attended the University of Virginia, graduating with a RN degree. From 1937 until 1941 Ruth served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. On July 5, 1941 she married Stuart I. Draper, MD, in Dalton, Georgia. He preceded her in death in 1983. Her memberships included the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lt. William Brewer Chapter; Colonial Dames, Dr. John Woodson Chapter; Retired Officers Association, En Ami Book Review Club and Midland County Medical Society Auxiliary.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sandra Draper Spurgeon and her husband, Stanley, of Midland, TX; Barbara Draper Pantzer and her husband, Eric, of Lexington, KY; Jane Draper Moore and her husband, Carl, of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Malissa Ruth Spurgeon, John Stuart Draper Spurgeon, Ryan Draper Spurgeon and Catherine Ruth Spurgeon; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 30, 2004 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel with Dr. Jerry Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park
