Sidney Phillip Wharton was the tenth and youngest child of Dr. John Thomas Wharton Sr. and Kate Williamson Wharton. He married Florence Elizabeth Shull in DeWitt, Carroll County, Missouri on 27 November 1917. Sidney served in WWI as a Private First Class, Motor Transport Corps. He was a pharmacist, and later a pharmaceutical salesman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sidney and Florence were the parents of three daughters: Sarah Ann, Mary Lou, and Darlene
