THE PARIS NEWS Wed., Jun. 9, 1993, p.12A. ‘Odis Lee Powers, 85, 2193 E. Cherry, died Tuesday, June 8, at Cherry Street Annex. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Rupert Turk and Dr. Pat Otwell officiating. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Powers was born Dec. 29, 1907, in Deport, a son of Frank and Elizabeth Rucker Powers. He married Cornas Beatrice Davis who preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Robert Powers of Roseville, CA and Jackie Powers of Greenville; one daughter, Peggy Slagle of Mesquite; [original obituary did not include another daughter Juanita Bowman] four sisters, Ruby Swilling, Elizabeth Martin, Gladys Jenkins and Alpha Jane Burks; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, John Frank Powers and Billy Powers.’
