Son of Hayden B. and Abigail Fitzgerald Edwards of KY. m. Anna Clark in Dearborn Co., IN on 27 Oct 1864. Served in Civil War, re-enlisting twice, after having lost 2 fingers in battle at Ft. Donelson, TN. Served first as Pvt.in Co.C,52nd Regt, IN.; served second as Ordnance Sgt in 54th IN Volunteers (Co. J or I); third: 2nd Lt, Co C, 132nd Regt. Contracted TB due to hardships and exposure of battle. Died at age 39 leaving wife and daughters: Druscilla and Flora and son, William Anthony. Eldest daughter, Elnora, died shortly after he did of TB. She was 15. Their remains were moved by his son when Greenlawn Cemetery was destroyed and they were interred in the same grave at Crown Hill.
