LAST RITES FOR MRS. JORGENSEN
The community was saddened Friday evening when it learned that Mrs. Byron Jorgensen had passed away suddenly without warning illness of any kind. During the past few weeks she had been assisting her son Dale, at his place of business and it was there that she died.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock, October 13 at the United Presbyterian church with the Reverend Chas. M. Wilson officiating. Music was furnished by Miss Helen Anderson and Mrs. Chris Raun when they sang, "Beyond the Sunset," "Nearer the Cross," and "Sometime Weill Understand." Mrs. Herman Bjorklun was at the piano.
Interment was in the Minden cemetery and pallbearers were Reuben Nelson, Wilber Jorgensen, Lee Stevens, Harold Ostergaard, George Meiner and Gerald Leiske.
Ethel Christine Jorgensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ostergaard, was born June 14, 1895 at Upland, and departed this life October 10, 1947 at the age of 52 years, three months and 26 days.
She was reared to womanhood in Upland and taught two years in the Franklin county schools.
On December 29, 1915 she was united in marriage to Byron Jorgensen, of Osco. Three children were born to this union. The family lived on a farm in the Osco community until 1935 when they moved to Holstein where they operated a general merchandise store. Due to the loss of the store by fire in 1944 they moved to Minden to make their home.
Mrs. Jorgensen was uncomplaining and most patient through her many illnesses and showed great courage the past year and a half after the loss of her limb.
In 1914 she united with the United Brethren Church of Upland. During the past year she transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian church of Minden. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and one brother, Peter L. Ostergaard.
Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Christensen of Fullerton; two sons, Dale and Allen of Minden; one sister, Mrs. Iner Johnson of Upland; three brothers, Jesse Ostergaard of Minden, Thomas Ostergaard of San Diego, California and Carl Ostergaard of Overton; also three grandsons, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
