Lewis Monroe Collins, 80 died April 13, 2006 at his home on 1791 Highway 158, Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was an honored WWII Veteran.

He was born February 2, 1926 to Gertrude Otley Spence and Kenny Monroe Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter daughter, Donna Marie; two sisters, Lillie Maude Bonsall and Blanche Otley Washington; six brothers, Frank Monroe, Paul Clifton, James Thomas, John Pershing, William Sterling, and Sidney Cairey Collins. He is survived by his wife Imogene Collins; three sons Robin Monroe Collins of Glen Allen, VA, Danny Ray Collins of Louisa, VA, and Lewis Craig Collins of Roanoke Rapids, NC; nine grandchildren Nicole Collins, Lewis Craig Collins, Jr., Jamie Collins, Samatha Collins, Angelle Collins, Bryann, Justin and Joey Collins; and two nieces, Janice Gibson and Lolita Walker.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 13, 2006 at South Rosemary Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jimmy King. Memorial gift may be made to the NC Baptist Children's Home c/o South Rosemary Baptist, 1837 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870. Hockaday Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
