Robert "Bob" Vernon Abdon
of Chelsea, age 88, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his home. He was born May 20, 1920 in Chelsea, the son of Frank Ellis and Myrtle (Craft) Abdon. Mr. Abdon was a WWII veteran having served 45 months in the Pacific. He was a former member of the V.F.W. and First Congregational Church in Chelsea. He retired from the Federal Screw Works in 1984 after 34 years. Bob was a kind, generous, family-oriented man who would do anything for anyone. He thought of others before himself. Bob thought the world of his family which included his daughter Teresa (James) Roberts of Brooklyn, MI; 2 grandchildren, Brittney and Carrie Roberts; 1 great-grandson, Trenton Ruttkofsky; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Florence Gentner, Nellie Pierce, Elnora Wright, Ethel Abdon, and Oleta Abdon and 2 brothers, Richard and Russell "Bud" Abdon. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec.5 , 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 4-8pm.
