She was born January 9, 1917 in China, the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Goddard) Bailey.
Edna attended local schools and graduated from Besse High School in Albion, class of 1934.
On December 7, 1935 she married Delmont F. Meader and they lived most of their life in China. During her lifetime she had various occupations and retired in 1974 from Maine State Retirement System.
Edna's hobbies included knitting and crocheting for family and friends. Many Afghans are in the possession of these people. She was an active member of China Baptist Church for over 50 years and had been an active member of the South China Community Church since 1995.
Edna was predeceased by her sister, Letha Wilson.
She is survived by her husband; their daughters, Joyce Norton and husband H. Richard, and Janice Overlock and husband Charles; grandchildren, Valerie Williams and husband Michael, Kathleen Poulin and husband Michael, Cindy Collins and husband Michael, Bradley Overlock, Cheryl Gwadosky and husband Dan, Douglas Norton and wife Kathy, Stephen Norton, Timothy Norton and wife Karen; 21 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the South China Community Church, Main St., South China, Maine on Sunday March 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm.
