W.G. Elsmore, Barber, Civic Worker, Dies

AMERICAN FORK - William George Elsmore, 71, died Sunday afternoon in American Fork of a heart attack. Mr. Elsmore had been a barber in American Fork for more than 40 years.
He was born in American Fork Aug. 18, 1882, son of Joseph H. and Sarah Ann Richards Elsmore.
Mr. Elsmore was an active civic worker. He was a tax assessor and water master for many years. For 9½ years he was justice of the peace in American Fork. He was also a member of the Veterans Volunteer Firemen and had received his 25-year pin for this service.
Mr. Elsmore married Mae Kelly of American Fork Dec. 2, 1903 at Blackfoot, Ida. At that time he was operating his own barbershop in Blackfoot. He later opened a shop at Salt Lake City which he operated a few years before moving to American Fork.
He was a member of the LDS Church.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Guelda) Clitheroe of Provo; a grandson, Elsmore Bush, whom the Elsmores reared from infancy, now of San Diego; one granddaughter and two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and the following brothers and sisters; Hyrum Elsmore, Salt Lake City; Ray Elsmore, Palo Alto; Mrs. Clarence (Em) Rawlins, Denver; Mrs. Ellis (Lou) Mitchell, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Chauncey (Mary) Earl, American Fork.
The body is at the Anderson Mortuary.
