Virginia E. Reed, 84, of Brewster, died Monday, March 26, 2000.
She was born November 16, 1915, at Paradox, Colorado, the daughter of John Felix and Nora (Brummitt) Rice.
Virginia met her husband Jack on a race track in Colorado where they both were jockeys. Jack and Virginia were married in Telluride, Colorado, on December 4, 1937. They moved to Pateros and lived there for several years then they moved to Brewster.
Virginia and Jack had three children, Bob Reed of Pateros, Jackie Holt of Brewster and Lana Ansert of Spokane; she is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Zwicker of Pateros; several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was an avid gardener, she loved to play cards, dance and spend time with the family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Lillian; a grandson, Loren; two sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2000 at 2 pm at the Brewster Cemetery with Pastor Ray Kemnitz officiating. There will be no visitation.
Services under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
