He resigned that infantry in 1862, but reenlisted in August 1862 with a promotion to 2nd Lieutenant in Company D. He was promoted to Full Captain on Sept 4, 1862 and then just 4 days later to Full Lieutenant Colonel.He was commissioned to the 11th MD Infantry in 1865 and was promoted to Full Colonel in March 1865. He mustered out of Company S in June 1865 at Baltimore, MD
