Sammy H. Horton left this world for his heavenly home on August 24, 2009. He was born on February 19, 1933 in Caddo Mills, TX to Gracie Darlene and Dave Hardin Horton. Sammy is the youngest of 10 children: Colbert, Mertie Mae (Sis), Forest, Mildred, Jess, Joe, Jack, Al, and Faye all of whom preceded him in death.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Lynn, of 54 years with two sons: John Hardin and wife, Jeanmarie and Jeffery Scott; five grandchildren: John H., Jr., Amy Marie and husband, Juan, Ashley Anne, Jeremy Scott, Allie Lynn and one great grandchild, Parker Knight Horton.
Sammy was a proud Korean War veteran serving his country with distinction and honor. He was employed by Red Ball Motor Freight for 28 years.
Funeral service will be 3:00pm, Sunday August 30, 2009 at Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with Bro. J.D. Horton officiating and Tommy Ford assisting. The family will receive friends and relatives 3pm to 8pm on Saturday, August 29, 2008 at the funeral home. Sammy will be laid to rest in the Horton Family Plot at Campground Cemetery in Poetry, Texas.
