In 1895 he was graduated from the University College of Medicine at Omaha, NE and began practice in 1896 in South Bend, NE and then settled in Murdock, NE in 1901. He practiced medicine (and dentistry) in Murdock, Nebraska from about 1904, when he arrived, until his death. He died in his own home -- of Brights disease. The townspeople referred to him as "Old Doc Jones." In Murdock he and family lived first in a small long white frame building, which had been the Center School outside of town and had been moved into Murdock and became Murdocks first school building, later turned into a home. In 1988 it still stands, 2nd house due east of the Methodist Church.
Soon after moving to town Dill had a new brick and stucco home...a fine home...built across the street south, on the corner...it still stands in 1988, diagonally across the street from the Methodist church. His old office building still stands in 1988, a bit decrepit, but lived in, first building south of the post office; one empty lot between. It faces east.
The Jones family was great friends with and dined a lot with the Mills family in Murdock. Doc's wife Hariett died at 6 AM on a Sunday in their new home (the stucco house he built for the family) just 2 weeks after they moved into that new house. She died of Typhoid Fever. Her funeral was in the Methodist Church in Murdock.
