Lassie was teaching at Bright Hill School prior to her marriage. The family lived in Smithville in the late 1940's and Lassie taught 4th grade at Smithville Grammar School. She taught school in Nebraska in the 1950's. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School teacher.
Lassie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Floyd Nobbe of Goliad, Texas and daughter, Rose Nichelson of Saunders County, Nebraska;
three grandchildren, Ann Brodecky of Colfax County, Nebraska, Kathryn Pospisil of Nebraska, and Ken Nobbe of Texas;
12 great-grandchildren;
four great-great grandchildren; and nephews, J.D. Pedigo of Dekalb County, Tennessee and Wayne Billings of Macomb County, Michigan also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son-in-law
Willard Nichelson; her brothers - Richard,
John Loring, and Obe Douglas Billings; and sister Bessie Pedigo. Services were held on Monday, March 26th at her home church, the First Christian Church, in Ashland, Nebraska, with interment following in Ashland Cemetery.
