Charles married Frances Marie Hardy on July 3, 1939 in Hiawatha, Kansas and they resided in Kansas until September 1967, when they moved to the Des Moines/Urbandale area since September of 1967. He was a member of Alders gate United Methodist Church, National Automobile Dealers Association, Iowa Automobile Dealers Association and Rotary Club.
Mr. Gabus was preceded in death by his wife, Frances. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Jan C. Gabus of Palo Alto, California and Gene G. Gabus of Adel, Iowa; daughter, Patricia Peterson of Olathe, Kansas; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

MR. CHARLES H. GABUS passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 at The Reserve, in Urbandale, Iowa.
A visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008, with the funeral services at 3 p.m., at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Following the services his body will be donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.
MR. GABUS was born June 2, 1918 in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska.
