Albert Kenneth Rainwater, 'Buddy'- age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 11, 2009.

Buddy was an active member of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City where he was a Deacon, sang in the Adult Choir and previously taught 5th grade Sunday School and coached the Ladies' Softball team for many years. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was a life-long resident of Lenoir City, 1950 graduate of Lenoir City High School and an avid Vols Fan.

In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn McCown. After serving in the Air Force for 4 years, he was employed by Viskase (formerly Union Carbide) retiring with 38+ years of service. He was a member of Avery Lodge 593 F&AM.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Hensley Rainwater and his father, Rev. Oscar Rainwater in addition to three brothers and four sisters, of which he is the youngest.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Evelyn, he is survived by daughter Susan Rainwater Shoemaker of Lenoir City; son Michael Rainwater and wife Amy, of Knoxville. Grandchildren (who called him 'Bud Bud'): Lindsey Armstrong and husband Paul (who are expecting with his first great-grand child due in April); Lauren Shoemaker; Kyle and Emily Rainwater. Sisters: Alda Daniel of Lenoir City; Betty Jo Stevens of Salt Lake City, Utah; Sisters-in-Law: Betty Cook of Farragut and Barbara Bright and husband Allan of Maryville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 14 at First Baptist Church, Lenoir City with Dr. Richard DeMerchant officiating.

Graveside Services, with full military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery with Dr. C.E. 'Jack' Jackson officiating.

Active pall bearers will be Paul Armstrong, Van Shaver, Austin Shaver, Evan Shaver, Bob McCullah, Jeff Shaver, Kevin Bluford, Tommy Cook, Roger McCown and Wayne Jones. Honorary pall bearers will be members of the John Henry McNabb Sunday School Class.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of UT Medical Center especially the staff of 8East and Dr. J. Christopher Scott for the wonderful care for many years; and to Darlene and Frances with UT Hospice for the loving compassionate care.
