He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and served his country as a proud U. S. Marine Corps. in the capacity of Electrician LOp1, he received awards including the good conduct medal for his service.
Randy's paternal grandparents were Geraldine Nettine (Calhoun) Flowers Murphy and her first husband Haskell Flowers . His maternal grandparents were Flora (Hendry) and Marion Moses Carlton.
*Note: Jerry was adopted at age 9 by his uncle John Lee Tyson , a single man and Jerry's name was changed at that time.
