Mr. Gardner was born Sept. 13, 1887,
the son of the late Eli and Mary Gardner.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran
of the First World War.
He was a conductor for the New York Central
Railroad for 45 years, before his retirement
10 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Martha C. Gardner,
of Graceville; five sons, Lloyd F. Gardner, Erie,
Howard W. Gardner, of Graceville, Theodore
and Norbert Gardner, of Lond Beach, California,
and Captain Kenneth Gardner, stationed with
the U.S. Air Force in Germany; one daughter,
Mrs. Arthur Briggs, of Erie. Survivors also
include a sister, Mrs. George Dudenhoeffer,
of Erie, and four brothers, Walter N. Gardner,
Chester A. Gardner, and Miles H. Gardner,
all of Erie, and Eli Webster Gardner,
of Harrisburg, PA.
Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
