Stella Phillips, 91, of Caryville (New River Community), died Friday, Feb. 6 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends and served them faithfully.
Phillips was preceded in death by husband, Rev. Link Phillips; daughters, Hazel Jones, Glenna McDowell, Elizabeth Dowden; sons, Litton and Lawrence Phillips; three grandchildren; one sister and four brothers. She is survived by daughters, Ima Jean Nighbert and husband, Eddie of Vasper and Sherinia Shirell of Caryville; sons, Coy Phillips of Ind., Larry Joe Phillips and wife, Bernice of Clinton, Tommy Phillips and wife, Edith of Wartburg; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relative and friends.Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 8 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Don Daugherty and Brother Lynn Byrge officiating. Interment was Monday, Feb. 9 in Phillips Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday prior to funeral services.
