Mrs. Clara Malloure, widow of the late J.C. Malloure of this city, died at her home at 408 Carleton avenue about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Christmas Day, following a long illness due to high blood pressure and uremic poisoning which had effected her heart. Her illness had been critical for a period of perhaps two weeks.
The deceased was born March 31, 1867, at Odon, Ind. and was aged 67 years, 8 months and 25 days when death called her. She was united in marriage to Mr. Malloure on October 5, 1886, at Evansville, Ind. and the pair, with their small son, Victor, removed to this country in 1889, locating in Cooter, where Mr. Malloure entered the mercantile business. In 1897 they moved to this city, where her husband followed principally clerical pursuits, being an expert bookkeeper and office man, up to the time of his death June 20th, 1930.
Three other sons were born to them after they came to Missouri, all of whom survive, being Messrs. Harry and Clarence Malloure of this city and H. Clay Malloure of Flint, Mich. The last named was unable to attend the funeral of his mother, due to the fact principally that his wife is an invalid, confined at all times to her bed. Aside from one granddaughter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Malloure, there are no other surviving relatives in this state.
Shortly after their removal to this city, Mrs. Malloure united with the Methodist church here and was always thereafter a faithfull and earnest worker therein, also being a steady and consistent worker in the W.C.T.U. organization here. She was noted as an excellent cook and home maker and devoted her life exclusively to her duties to her husband and family and to her church. Due to her long residence and cardinal virtues she possessed, the deceased leaves a large circle of friends here who deplore her passing.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church in this city, conducted by the Rev. E.H. O'Rear of Sikeston, a former pastor here, who made his home much of the time during his pastorate here with the Malloure family. He was assisted by the Rev. C.C. Barnhardt, the present pastor of the church.
Interment was at Little Prairie cemetery in the family plot, where the remains of the deceased were consigned to the last resting place beside those of the husband, with whom she was so long associated and who had preceded her to the great beyond some four years earlier.
