Ruth Ann Cornwell, 64, of Ithaca, died Wednesday, July 5, 1995, at Carson City Hospital in Carson City.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca with the Rev. David McBride officiating. Burial will be in the Ithaca Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Polio Network Inc.

She was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Carson City, the daughter of John G. and Gladys M. (Hill) Martin.

She participated in many worthwhile activities, which included serving as treasurer for the Michigan Polio Network Inc. for over 10 years. Ruth encouraged and supported the transformation of the Ithaca Courthouse into a barrier-free facility, which was a tremendous benefit for the entire community. She was gifted with a love for people and had the ability to help everyone who needed her. Her independence served as a inspiration to every one who knew her.

She is survived by one son, Rolland Cornwell of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Celia Olson of Greenville and Marian E. McGlone of Arcadia, Fla; one grandson, Steven Cornwell of Ithaca; and four step-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Shirley Wood; and two brothers, William J. Martin and Leo Martin.
