On February 1, 1948, he was united in marriage with Janice Penney. To this union, four sons were born -- Daniel Wayne, Dennis Allen, David Rodney, and Dudley Gene.

Wayne Stewart, 82, died Monday evening, Sept. 7, 2009 at his home in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 12 at First English Lutheran church in Lennox. Rev. Hugh Brewer officiated.
Organist was Leslie Fylling and soloist was David Fergen, who sang The Lord's Prayer and Wind Beneath My Wings.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne's grandchildren: Chris, Kasey, Kyle, Bonnie, Becky, Jake, Andrea, and Jennifer.
Casketbearers included Jon Reiners, Chuck Stewart, Scott Stewart, Mike Stewart, Mark Reiners, John Stewart, and Jeff Stewart.
Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery with Military Rites by the South Dakota Honor Guard.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father in 1983, his mother in 1990; one son, Dennis on Aug. 8, 2008; one grandson, Adam in 1998 and one sister, Genevieve Musch in 1968.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 61 years, Janice; three sons: Danny (Kathleen) Stewart, Sioux Falls, David (Jeri) Stewart, Palo Cedro, CA and Dudley Stewart, Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law: Sheila Stewart, Bullhead City, AZ; eight grandchildren: Chris, Kasey, Kyle, Bonnie, Beckey, Jake (deployed in Iraq), Andrea & Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; siblings: Donald (Rita) Stewart, Chester, Florene (Albert) Behl, Hastings, NE and Nancy (Wendell) Behrends, Rapid City; and his caregivers during the past three years.
