Charles was born on July 5, 1915 and died on March 14, 1964 at home in Kingfisher, Kingfisher Co., Oklahoma and was buried at the Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Kingfisher Co., Oklahoma

Enid, OK — The funeral for Eva Marie Hawkins, 89, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at First Christian Church. The Rev. Marilyn Merle will officiate. Burial will be in Kingfisher Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service Inc., Kingfisher. The casket will only be open at the funeral home.

She was born May 25, 1920, in Cashion to Walter Elvis and Lula A. McGahuey Sowards and died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009.

She was a 1938 graduate of Cashion High School.

She married Charles Elmer Hawkins June 27, 1938, in Chandler.

They moved to a farm southeast of Kingfisher. They lived and worked on that same farm until his death in 1964. She then went to work for Pioneer Telephone from 1964 until her retirement in 1985. She then worked as a house mother for the Sigma Nu fraternity at Oklahoma State University. She lived in Stillwater for two years before moving back to Kingfisher.

She had been a member of the Christian Church since 1938.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Payne; one son, Charles "Chuck" Hawkins; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, two sisters and two brothers.
